The management of the social network TikTok is ready to cooperate with the Russian authorities in the field of identifying illegal content. This was announced on Friday, April 9, by the head of the State Duma commission to investigate the facts of foreign interference in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation, Vasily Piskarev.

He made a statement to reporters following a meeting of the commission on the regulation of TikTok activities with the participation of company representatives.

“The dialogue was very constructive, we offered help in clarifying our legislation, and they [the TikTok leadership] are ready to cooperate,” the MP said.

During the meeting, representatives of the company, among other things, indicated that a lot of illegal content is spread on the social network, but the organization is trying to fight this in all possible ways, Piskarev specified.

The parliamentarian also noted that in January-February, more than a thousand posts were posted on the Tik-Tok digital platform that violate Russian law, including those involving teenagers in illegal actions, disobeying law enforcement officers and encouraging suicide.

In early April, a Russian court fined TikTok for not removing banned content. The company was charged with 2.6 million rubles. The reason was the spread of calls on the social network to participate in unauthorized actions at the end of January. Prohibited content was directed at minors. A criminal case was opened on the fact of the posting. However, at the time, TikTok ignored requests to block content.
